Regulation

The Uapishka Biodiversity Reserve covers close to third of the Massif and is protected under the Natural Heritage Conservation Act. Motorized traffic is prohibited on the summits (>800 meters in altitude), as it may affect alpine tundra plant life, caribou and wildlife.

A regulatory protocol was established as an exceptional measure to allow motorized traffic on the summits of the Uapishka Biosphere Reserve under restrictive conditions and along a specific trail, in the mandatory company of a guide duly authorized by the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC). This protocol is subject to an annual monitoring and updating program and can be revoked at any time. Snowmobilers wishing to use the summit trail regulated under this protocol must obtain information about the terms in effect and comply with them. For complete regulations, please refer to: www.motoneige-groulx.com.
